PHYSICAL THERAPY

Physical, emotional and mental therapy are not separate systems and are linked, constantly influence and impacting each other. The brain and body communicate through hormones, the nervous system and immune responses. When one suffers, the others often follow. Caring for one area and ignoring the others, limits overall wellbeing. For example

  • chronic stress can raise blood pressure and increase heart disease

  • long-term illness can contribute to anxiety and depression

  • poor sleep affects mood and immune function

Mental health conditions like anxiety and depression can increase inflammation, affect hormone balance, and weaken the immune system. Physical conditionals such as heart disease, diabetes, and chronic pain can increase emotional distress. The WHO (World Health Organisation) emphasise that health is a state on complete physical, mental and social wellbeing, not merely the absence of disease.

  • Regular exercise improves mood by releasing endorphins

  • therapy can reduce physical symptoms linked to stress

  • mindfulness lowers cortisol (stress hormone)

By embracing a holistic approach, individuals can achieve stronger health, greater happiness and long-term vitality. The benefits of an integrated approach include

  • earlier detection of health issues

  • better treatment outcomes

  • reduced healthcare costs

  • improved quality of life

  • stronger resilience to stress

Practical ways to support fully integrated wellbeing

  • practice mindfulness or meditation daily

  • stay physically active (30 minutes) most days

  • maintain regular medical checkups

  • seek therapy when needed

  • build strong social connections

  • prioritise sleep and balanced nutrition

Psychosomatic massage is a therapeutic method that combines physical touch and psychological healing. It is based on the understanding that body and mind are closely interconnected and influence each other. Through discussion, emotional state, tension, pain and psychological concerns are identified and clarified. Swedish massage methods are then used to address these areas. Space is provided for any emotions that may arise, followed by support and guidance, as required. Breathing techniques are employed to aid relaxation and reduce stress. Collaboration is key for both client and therapist to work together and the outcome includes a greater awareness of body and emotions. Approximately 90 minutes per session.
